Newcastle’s book club for all things non fiction, classics, and theory
Lily Pad Book Club is Newcastle’s new book club for anyone who loves non fiction, classics, politics, and theory, with monthly meet ups hosted at Shout Brewing.
For November's meet up, the group will be discussing Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, the famous classic that follows a woman through a single day preparing for a party in London.
Through written streams of consciousness, the plot explores themes of time, identity, belonging, mental illness, and societal constraints. The novel uncovers deep discoveries about human connection and individual existence, all written in the style that made Woolf as famous as she is.
Grab a ticket, get to reading, then meet at Shout Brewing Co. for an evening discussing all the ins and outs of the recent read, and how the themes reflect back into the world around you. Follow Lilly Pad Book Club’s instagram to help vote for the next book.

Your ticket includes a drink on arrival, with craft beers, local wines, and non-alcoholic options to choose from, plus thoughtfully written discussion questions to help keep the conversation and idea flowing.
