Big literary names are heading to Newcastle this spring
The main Newcastle Writers Festival might be over for another year, but the conversations are continuing, with its Spring Program bringing acclaimed writers Suzie Miller and Andrew O’Hagan to the city this October.
Across October, Newcastle Writers Festival will host two special author events, inviting local book lovers to hear from internationally acclaimed writers Suzie Miller and Andrew O’Hagan.

First up is Australian/British writer and playwright Suzie Miller, who heads to Newcastle Theatre Company on Thursday, 1 October.
Best known for Prima Facie – the smash-hit play she later adapted into a bestselling novel – Miller will discuss her latest work, Inter Alia. The novel follows an eminent High Court judge whose professional and personal worlds collide when a devastating crisis hits home, exploring modern masculinity, family, privilege and accountability.
Miller will join Rosemarie Milsom, director of Adelaide Writers’ Week and founding director of Newcastle Writers Festival, to unpack the novel and reflect on her wider career.
