Get up close to emergency services at this free Maitland expo

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes when emergency services respond to a fire, flood, or road accident? This November, Maitland is giving locals the chance to find out.

On Saturday, November 14, the Emergency Management & Community Resilience Expo takes over Maitland Showground.

The event will bring together more than 25 emergency services, government agencies, and community organisations for a free day of demonstrations and interactive experiences.

Emergency Management and Community Resilience Expo

Hosted by Maitland, Dungog, and Port Stephens councils, the expo will showcase the people, skills, and equipment helping keep local communities safe.

Visitors can watch live road crash and flood rescue demonstrations, see a kitchen fire simulator in action, and explore emergency vehicles and specialist equipment.

There'll also be plenty of opportunities to get involved, from holding a fire hose with the NSW Rural Fire Service to climbing aboard an inflatable rescue raft with Marine Rescue NSW.

Representatives from NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, NSW SES, Fire and Rescue NSW and other organisations will be on hand to answer questions and share practical advice on preparing for bushfires, floods, storms and other emergencies.

Beyond the demonstrations, visitors can enjoy food trucks and live music from Tyde Kanoa and Nick Bull.
