Two local artists celebrate their connection to the coast
There's something about the Australian coastline that continues to inspire artists, and for siblings Lucas Molloy and Megan Barrass, that connection runs particularly deep.
From November 1-29, Artisan Collective Port Stephens will host COASTAL, a free exhibition bringing together the works of Lucas and Megan for the first time, celebrating their shared love of the sea through two distinctive artistic styles.
Growing up together with the ocean as their backdrop, the siblings have each developed their own creative approach, drawing inspiration from coastal landscapes and the relaxed lifestyle that comes with living by the water.
While their artistic journeys have taken different directions, their connection to the Australian coastline remains a common thread.
Now, the two artists are coming together to showcase their individual interpretations of the coast, exploring the landscapes, colours and experiences that have shaped their work.
Visitors can explore the exhibition throughout November at Artisan Collective Port Stephens, located on the ground floor of d'Albora Marina in Nelson Bay.
For those keen to learn more about the artists and their creative processes, Lucas and Megan will also host a special Artist Q&A on Saturday November 14 at 3pm.
The session offers visitors the opportunity to meet the siblings, hear the stories behind their artworks and discover how their shared upbringing has influenced their individual artistic styles.
With free entry and the gallery open daily, it's an easy addition to your next visit to Nelson Bay.
