Local ceramics take over King Street for one day

The Art Department is bringing a ceramics market to King Street this December, with locally made pieces, seconds, clay classes and wheel throwing all part of the day.

On Saturday, 5 December, The Art Department Ceramics Markets will take over the front of the Newcastle studio and adjoining arcade from 9am to 2pm.

The one-day market will bring together stalls from local ceramic artists, giving you the chance to browse handmade pieces and meet some of the people behind them.

There’ll also be a ceramics seconds sale, with pieces priced from $5 to $10, making this a good opportunity to pick up something handmade without spending too much.

If you’d rather get your hands into the clay, classes and wheel-throwing sessions will also be happening throughout the day.

Add some good tunes into the mix and you’ve got an easy Saturday morning browse – whether you’re hunting for a handmade Christmas gift or something for yourself.
