Get to know the new menu bringing bold flavours to the harbour

Tucked away in Honeysuckle’s waterfront precinct, Wharf 350 Bar & Restaurant is one dining spot that may still be flying under the radar for Newcastle locals.

Located on the ground floor of Rydges Newcastle at 350 Wharf Road, the restaurant is led by Maitland-born Head Chef John Rutherford, whose paddock-to-plate philosophy underpins its eclectic take on Modern Australian dining.

With a fresh summer menu now on the agenda, it’s a chance to explore what’s new from the kitchen.

Expect bold Asian-inspired flavours, seafood classics – think Lobster Rolls, Ceviché, Market Fish and Prawn Linguine – alongside inventive share plates and plenty of standout dishes to tempt you.

Small plates, big flavours

Start with a few light bites to share over drinks, choosing from fresh Australian kingfish ceviché with avocado and sesame soy to crisp polenta squid with rouille and pickled vegetable salad.

Prawn toast topped with crispy seaweed, kewpie mayonnaise, and prawn oil brings a hit of seafood flavour, while pork and shiitake mushroom dumplings arrive finished with house-made crispy chilli oil and shallots.

For something more indulgent, tuck into slipper lobster rolls with dill, caper and lemon ranch dressing, or the burrata wrapped in crisp kataifi pastry and served with smoky tomato chilli jam.

Round things out with warm olives and sourdough, a charcuterie board piled with cured meats and pickles, or Binnorie Brie bites drizzled with pistachio honey and quince glaze.

From the grill to the table

For the main event, expect flavour-packed hearty proteins and familiar favourites with an innovative twist.

Tuck into a grilled Riverina rump steak with Caesar wedge salad, rosemary salt and roast kipfler potatoes, or go for the charcoal-grilled Wagyu tri-tip, paired with chimichurri, béarnaise and parmesan truffle oil fries.

For something with an Asian-inspired edge, try the chicken katsu alongside sticky furikake rice, pickled daikon and cucumber, spring onion and creamy gochujang sauce.

The sous vide lamb rump takes a Mediterranean-inspired turn, bringing together carrot hummus, labna, smoky baba ghanoush, pomegranate, and beetroot.

If pasta is more your style, twirl your way through Sicilian prawn linguine with chilli, garlic, olive oil, tomato and parsley, or dig into semolina and Sebago potato gnocchi coated in blue cheese and chive cream, topped with crunchy garlic bread crumble.

Don’t miss the market fish of the day for a taste of the Hunter’s standout seafood.

Save room for something sweet

Finish on a sweet note with a coconut parfait, layered with mango and pineapple salsa, toasted coconut and crisp brick pastry.

Chocolate lovers can indulge in the malt cheesecake, finished with dulce de leche, malt crumb and quince gel or the Belgian chocolate and raspberry entremets, combining brownie crumb, freeze-dried raspberries and vanilla mascarpone.

A taste of the Hunter

The drinks list keeps things local, with Hunter Valley wines from Leogate Estate, Silkman Wines, Brokenwood, First Creek, and Mercer Wines.
